WHY STRATA SECURITY DOCUMENTATION MATTERS
CLEAR REQUIREMENTS. BETTER PROJECT PLANNING.

Security upgrades in strata properties frequently involve multiple stakeholders, existing building infrastructure and shared-property responsibilities.

Clear documentation helps strata managers and owners corporations understand what work is proposed, what equipment is required and how the installation may affect residents or building operations.

CLEAR PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
Document the areas requiring security coverage, entry control, communication or network connectivity.

EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE
Identify existing cameras, intercoms, cabling, network switches, recording equipment and communications cabinets that may need assessment.

BUILDING ACCESS & COORDINATION
Consider access to common areas, communications rooms, risers, apartments and other installation locations.

EQUIPMENT & INSTALLATION SCOPE
Record proposed equipment types, installation requirements, testing and handover expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORISATIONS
Identify the authorised representatives, relevant approvals and project decision-making responsibilities.

LONG-TERM MANAGEMENT
Consider documentation, authorised system access, ongoing support and future maintenance requirements.

Well-defined requirements help contractors prepare more comparable proposals and reduce misunderstandings during installation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

STRATA SECURITY DOCUMENTATION & PROJECT PLANNING

Do we need a site inspection before requesting a CCTV quotation?

A site inspection is often beneficial, particularly for larger or more complex strata properties. Existing infrastructure, camera locations, cabling and recording requirements can affect equipment selection and installation costs.

Can our existing CCTV cameras or cabling be reused?

Possibly. Reuse depends on equipment condition, system compatibility, cabling performance and the requirements of the proposed upgrade.

Can older apartment intercom systems be upgraded without replacing all apartment wiring?

Some compatible two-wire replacement systems are designed for retrofit applications. The existing cabling, building configuration and selected equipment need assessment before reuse can be confirmed.

Can you provide separate quotations for CCTV, intercoms and access control?

Yes. Where appropriate, individual scopes can be prepared so authorised representatives can review different project components separately.

What documentation should be requested from a security installer?

Depending on the project, documentation may include an agreed scope of works, equipment schedule, relevant licences, warranty information, applicable cabling compliance documents and system handover details.

Can you help strata managers prepare a security upgrade proposal?

Yes. Advance Digital Systems can assess existing systems and prepare practical recommendations and equipment proposals for authorised strata consideration.

Do strata security installations need owners corporation approval?

Approval requirements depend on the nature of the work, the property's governing arrangements and applicable NSW strata and building requirements. Appropriate authority should be confirmed before work is approved or commenced.
